• To make individuals aware of the health and safety executives guidance notes on avoiding underground apparatus.
• To provide individuals with the sufficient knowledge regarding the importance of obtaining utilities plans prior to any excavating taking place.
• To make sure the individual is able to understand utility plans.
• The individuals must be able to locate and trace a power cable.
• To provide individuals with knowledge of the dangers of damaging apparatus that lay below ground level.
