Why is this course useful?
This course is designed to renew the HSE recognised First Aid at Work certificates.
If the course is taken in the months prior to the expiry of the certificate the new certificate will be valid for three years from the date of expiry of the original certificate.
Anticipated Delegate Profile
Who else will be on this course?
Holders of the HSE Approved four days First Aid at Work certificate may extend its validity for a further three years by taking this course.

Course Content
- A revision of topics covered in the basic course, together with any new first aid procedures introduced since the last course.
- Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
- Communication and delegating responsibility in an emer gency.
- Resuscitation.
- Managing an unconscious casualty.
- Treating and controlling bleeding.
- Treating burns and scalds.
- Treating injuries to bones, muscles and joints.
- Treating minor injuries.
- Treating shock.
- Treating eye injuries and rinsing out eyes.
- Understanding poisons, gases and fumes.
- Moving injured people.
- Recognising illness.
- Simple record keeping, using the contents of the first aid box and buying supplies.
- Familiarisation of employers duties under the regulations.
- Personal hygiene and cross infection.
